The Girls On The Go campaign is being sponsored by Southern Chevy Dealers who gave me and the chosen bloggers a 2010 Chevy Malibu to test drive for one month and blog about our experiences using the vehicle. Girlfriend Getaway has given us some fun projects to do and provided us with gift cards to allow us to do this.

As a Girlfriend Getaway Florida’s official blogger, my experience thus far is truly amazing. Firstly, test-driving the 2010 Chevy Malibu for a month, then a TV commercial! Mind boggling, I know ๐Ÿ™‚ If you are located in the Orlando area, tune in channel WESH 2 for my hysterical commercial. For every one else around the world, families and friends, presenting Kiran with a hysterical laugh:

If you are done laughing, can I continue? ๐Ÿ˜‰

So, the Chevy Malibu week 1 mission was grocery shopping. Enjoy my post and video below and do visit our official blog to check out what other Girls on the Go are blogging about! Tell me, what do you think of my Chevy experiences thus far?

———

Mission grocery usually takes place on the day when I have to run errands such as post office, banking etc. You know, the normal homemaker drift ๐Ÿ˜‰ So how do I ensure that my produce stays fresh and cool while simultaneously running gazillion errands before I reach home? Introducing… my infamous “Coleman cooler” to the rescue!

The day normally begins by giving the hubby a ride to work. Yes, we have to share one car. But I have my Chevy Malibu for a month now, so less cat-fight with hubby for the driver’s seat ๐Ÿ˜€

I love the XM Radio powered by Bose, ease of Onstar feature and of course the heated seats for chilly winters. And the leather seats? It is not just huge but so comfortable and luxurious!

You would think that a Sedan could compromise on the overall size and space. Think again! I was amaze at the trunk size of the Chevy Malibu! It has loads of space! A ladder could easily fit onto the extended space. Enough of me blabbering, let the video speak for itself ๐Ÿ˜‰ Go easy on me folks, this is my first attempt at video editing – considered warned ๐Ÿ˜€

Being absent from the blogosphere does come with many surprises. New comments from new readers, hundreds of spam comments and unread feed reads. A lot to catch on. The sweetest surprise of all is to know that Chatterbox (my blog) and Shutterbox (my photo-blog) is nominated at Orbbies: Orlando’s Rockin’ Blogs organized by Orlando Sentinel.

The Orlando Sentinel Orbbies Contest is looking for Orlando’s best local blogs. I am very appreciative if you could find the time and vote daily for my blog and photo-blog. This is so exciting ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ve created two separate banners as below for ease of voting. Please click on each to vote separately, one for our blog and the other, for my photo-blog. The badge on the top-right sidebar is click-able as well, for voting. You would have to register with a user id and password in order to cast your vote. But if you’re a fellow Orlandoan, and you are yet to register, there is no excuse of unfamiliarity with Orlando Sentinel. It would be shocking! Thank you guys, you are the best! Wish us luck!

A while back, I had created a category called “Character of the Day”. I want to create a new embracelet to introduce some of my favorite reads for a long time now. The first blogger that I am keen to introduce is Su Yin Huen. She is a Malaysian, studied Construction Management in Australia and attended Notter School of Pastry in Orlando, USA. I know, she is a multi talented girl. She creates masterpieces that would make one go “oohh and ahhh” or “ga-ga”.

Su started blogging while attending UNSW university in Sydney Australia. With self-taught techniques, attained from cooking & baking for her roommates, she discovers her new found interest in the art of cake decorating.

It all began with a spark of enlightenment from picking up a tiny block of fondant icing and a brochure hidden within. She thought to herself; “WOW! The things I could do with THIS!!” by Su Yin.

Su’s journey by far, has been a fun roller coaster ride. Upon returning from Notter School of Pastry, she begin realizing her dreams of opening her own designer cakes and more shop. Yes, you read it right. She is an awesome cake designer. And if you are in Kuala Lumpur, hop over to her designer cake shop where you would droll over Su’s creatively crafted creations. From cupcakes, to birthday’s and designer wedding cakes – the creative concept begins with themes and design ideas tossed around with her clients towards creating a mega show-stopper. Delectable have featured in many articles, and this is just the beginning ๐Ÿ™‚

She believes our precious eyes deserve as much a feast as our noses and tastebuds are so lucky to enjoy. Life’s too short for ugly food *wink* by Su Yin.

To visit, sample and drool over Su’s creations, you can visit her shop or contact her at:

Delectable @ S-213, Level 2, The Gardens Mall, Mid Valley City, Lingkaran Syed Putra, 59200 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Don’t worry, she often rants/blogs @ The Journal of a Girl who Loves To Cook

Embracelet for Su Yin :)

Congratulations Su Yin, for all your achievements! Here is your embracelet ๐Ÿ™‚ I hope you like it as much as I have, creating it ๐Ÿ™‚

Love life, engage in it, give it all youโ€™ve got. Love it with a passion, because life truly does give back, many times over, what you put into it โ€“ Maya Angelou.

I canโ€™t recall when was the last time I actually slept for 6 hours or so. The max was 3 hours. For months. It was grueling. And was about to be even more nightmarish :) The flight from Orlando to Amsterdam, though pleasant, I could not sleep a wink!

Gazing into Netherlands

Gazing into Netherlands

Arrived at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport on 17th Feb 2009, at 11:30am. Itโ€™s freaking chilly! As I make my way towards the baggage carousel, I realized that I did not know which carousel would have my luggage. So, the panicky girl I am โ€“ I panicked! Calm down Kiran, there is nothing to worry about. So what if these people spoke more Dutch than English? I approached an officer on duty, and with a sigh of relief, he explained to me where I would get my carousel information. In English! Yay! Hail Oโ€™ Netherlanders!

I claimed my luggage and walk towards customs and security, with a breeze. It was a โ€œtouch and goโ€ security. At Godโ€™s speed. Har*, Jessy* & Tas** was constantly on sms with me, awaiting for my arrival. Very sweet of them ๐Ÿ™‚ Meeting them โ€“ with teary eyes, laughter & smiles โ€“ after a very long time. Bitter sweet reunion. Thank god Jessy brought a jacket and scarf for me. Itโ€™s freakishly cold! Whatโ€™s wrong with the EU weather? It was chilly, dark and gloomy.

Jessy & Tass apartment :)

Jessy & Tas's apartment ๐Ÿ™‚

We headed towards Jessy & Tasโ€™s apartment, where I was greeted with warmth from the heater and amazing scent of home made food. Pure bliss. We ate, laughed, shared stories and exchanged gifts for one another. Though extremely exhausted โ€“ not sleepy โ€“ the feeling of content, being surrounded by family are beyond words.

18th February 2009 โ€“ We decided to stay put at home due to my lack of sleep, exhaustion and jet lag. The next day was my next direct flight, and this time, the destination would be Malaysia โ€“ Truly Asia. I barely slept at all :) Perhaps due to excitement?

Part 3 coming up, stay tuned!
