Baby talk

So, it’s finally time to spill the beans… Nope, I am not pregrant. And neither I am prepared to be just because society expects me to be a mama.

I don’t think we owe any explanation to anyone. It’s none of anyone’s business.

There’s so much pressure from family members and the least we need now is the pressure from “society”. I’ve even gotten remarks like, “wait till they have a kid or two“.. What do you mean by that statement? Are you trying to imply that somehow your life is more miserable with kids, or are you just sheer jealous?

No one knows what we are going through, so just stop asking weird questions. Its gets too uncomfortable. I am so sick and tired of “baby” confrontations. Why is everyone so nosy in this department?

Ranting over 😀

Phew!!! On the other hand, things have been spinning out of control lately and I can’t decide whether I should pray for another pair of hands or an assistant. Times like this has us wishing for Aladdin’s lamp.

Or at least a magic carpet to escape it all!

Tell me of your woes. What’s ticking you off these days? I’m all ears. After all, it’s MournMonday for goodness sake!

And one more thing, we are moving. Aaaaahhh!!!!!!!!

I’ve got a teenager you can borrow to drive away the gawkers and talkers anytime you want, Kiran! (And on most days you can keep him! Ugh!) lol

Oh…tell me about that. I’ve been a victim of this familiar ‘Any Good news?’ all the time. It started with my MIL asking me whether I’m pregnant on day 10 of my married life. Then it was at my workplace….and even now when I chat online with friends that’s what they want to know. But the fact is, hubby and me are not ready for another member in the family, not even a puppy. Is it sheer jealousy that we as a couple are carefree, travelling places, in short enjoying life. Cos I see my counterparts pushing the stroller, packing the nappy bag, driving cars as big as a lorry and no time to groom themselves. Has it got anything to do with Indian mentality? Whatever, this is our lives and we’ll live by our own terms. Stay out…that’s what I tell people politely. I enjoyed reading your post. Happy moving. Same here…packing and moving to CA. Cheers! – Cheryl

Having a baby is a very difficult task… you’re life just does not exist to be your life anymore. Everything is just for the kid…

You know what I am so mad about… I have not had a dinner outside since April last year… and I know that I will not for many months to come. With sleep routines n the effort you put into training them, you feel no food is worth it. But, the girl in me, so wants to dress up, wear some nice heels and go clicking away for a fancy dinner. Its very difficult to actually know whether you are truly happy or not.. at least I do not really know. My daughter brings a smile on my face… but I look back and wonder, was I ready to throw away my life so quickly…. but I did.

Oh babe.. people will talk and gossip and have all the nasty things to say! Sibuk No #1 are the Indians. I had people telling me to vow allright for a baby saying I was getting old and had not conceived. Of course these jokers didnt know what was happening in my life.

Anyway, you guys decide whats best, and no one else. And also thank god for parents, they already have other grand kids to gugu gaga over, so not much pressure unlike mine where it would be the first grandchild for both sides.. Now that’s pressure allright juggling between both grandparents, and states apart! Geeshh..

So where you moving to? No more Florida?

Tell me about it. The whole world just enjoy minding other people’s business except their own. Mine is “When are you getting married?” “Oh you are getting older, and your pregnancy phase will pass very soon” Oh shut up!

ahhh same situation here. In laws and relatives pressurize us so much. On top of that my co-sister got pregnant within one month of marriage and is due in June!

Wow! You have a lot going on right now. Good luck! And I think I’ll be feeling your pain in the baby dept. after the wedding. I need to figure out a nice way of saying mind your own business because the frequent questions are definitely going to get on my nerves!

i feel the same way too. as much as i do enjoy some kids, i honestly don’t know if i’m ready to have them. age is catching up, but i just don’t feel ready mentally, physically, in no way! I can’t imagine giving up my life for a kid i don’t even know… right now i take care of my husband and you know men don’t do much, OMG, having a kid added to that would be hard. i don’t know, just going with the flow.

yeah true …once the marriage is over & done with, the next thing on people’s agenda is the babies. and once that is done, something else! it can be very annoying. quite understandable

Oh God! So this really is a universal “Indian” problem then! My policy is listen -n-ignore! Usually works except for the super-duper nosy ppl…and there are quite a few of those 🙂

Oh boy!!! poor thing… I know how it feels. But hang in there and just ignore those stupid comments/questions. Because if you do not, it will only bother you not to those people who are already bothering you. I learnt this hard way to ignore the background noise!
