Shoeholic?

Would you compromise, give in or just hold ground with sheer stubbornness?

Thanks to hubby, I love shoes. And to Ross & Marshall stores for the huge discounts which are almost unheard of, it’s mind-boggling!

Just another excuse for one (or two) shoe rack 🙂 Can’t imagine moving with boxes of shoes, clothes and handbags. Time for a serious spring cleaning.

…from India.

My first ever trip, filled with many joy, laughter, meeting new and exciting family’s and friends. The bustling city of New Delhi has so much to offer. I had my fair of joy riding on a  rickshaw and auto. It was chock-filled with thrilling experiences. From dinner parties, to endless shopping and indulgence in food heaven. Let’s allow the photos to speak for itself, shall we?

The last 2 photos are actually Handi Biryani – long grained Basmati rice cooked in earthen pot. It was deliciously yum!

For shopping, we raided placed like Shipra Mall, Janpath, Karol Bagh and Lajpat Nagar. A visit to Bangla Sahib brought a lot of peace and discovery of architectural beauty. We managed to sneak some time and visit Gurgaon, one of Delhi’s satellite city. The skyscrapers truly was an amazing sight to watch. Such a vast difference in contrast to Delhi. For photo viewing pleasures, I hope my blogging friend AD would’nt mind me sharing this link of his thorough post about Gurgaon. I am one of the luckiest to call India my home. Our home. As a backpacker once, I would love to enjoy the serenity of this country perhaps by joining a Yoga group or center in my next adventure! Majority of tourists flock to India for soul-searching.

We got around to celebrate a couple of birthdays, lunches, dinners and it was so much of fun. We truly miss every one in India. A country bountiful of rich culture, diversity and heritage.

Now we are back to US, wishing for our next adventurous trip. I hope it’s soon! That said, this is the end of my travelogue posts. Click here to read my previous Travelogue’s.

Been occupied for many days now. I have a few more thesis to complete before the semester break. That’s a relief. We are also planning a trip to India early ’09. I can hardly contain myself. It’s my first trip ever! I am very excited! But I would need some suggestions:

Venue: New Delhi & surroundings

1. Places that I must visit & why?

2. Shopping venue for (home decor, personals etc)everything a girl loves?

3. Shopping must-haves (suggestions)?

4. What food must I try and suggestions on venue?

5. Do’s and Dont’s.

6. Tips, suggestions or advice?

Drop me a comment. I would love to know more about India and get an early head start on planning for the trip.

What are the “must-haves” in your fridge?

I have a list of staple items that are “must-haves” in my refrigerator. Since our current living location is a little too far away for daily groceries, we sort out the problem by going for groceries every forth nightly.

1) Soy Milk – a great and healthier milk substitute and I would higly recommend for any one with lactose intolerance. I would recommend the Silk brand and it comes in variety of flavors; vanilla, chocolate, original. You can surely substitute any other brand if you can’t find Silk. Just make sure it is all natural.

2) Yogurt – my favorite by far would be Dannon, All Natural Non Fat.

3) Roma tomatoes

4) Ginger

5) Eggs

6) Lettuce/Spinach

7) Raddish/Carrots

8) Asian vegetables & condiments such as bok choy, tofu etc

9) Asian sauces

10) Chicken/Vege Broth

11) Cilantro/Any other herb

12) Curry leaves are a must for Indian curries

13) Citrus: Oranges, lemon and lime

14) Others: Mushroom, corn on the cob, cheese, jelly (our favorites are: orange marmalade & apple),

And not to forget my closely watched cravings and must haves: CHOCOLATES!

Call me crazy, but I’m in love with chocolates! It’s a food staple for my ‘now and then’ cravings.

As for my freezer must haves: Assortments of frozen vege patties (for snacking on burgers), fish, chicken, paneer, and definitely ICE-CREAM! The 3rd love of my life 🙂

Tips of the day:

a) Try substituting regular milk with Soy milk and have it with your favorite cup of tea… Deliciousness!

b) To preserve the shelf life of your herbs (i.e Cilantro, Rosemary, Mint, etc), clean and dry after purchase. Ensure all the liquids are evaporated. Fill a glass with some water, and keep your herbs in it, fresh and available in the refrigerator. See the example in the photo above.
