of what took place 10 years ago.

I recall talking to my mom and my then boyfriend while having dinner together. The news channel was on. And there was a major breaking news update. News anchor shouts, “a plane hits  into the World Trade Center!

I was numbed and immediately lost an appetite for Mom’s delicious foods. We ditched our meals and sat glued to our seats, watching the horrific events unfolding. At one point, Mom thought what she’s seeing couldn’t be real. She was so convinced that it looked like a scene from a Hollywood movie or something. I don’t blame her. It looked eerie, surreal and unbelieving.

Good thing, I blog. Bad thing, the Husband does get ratted out on the blog, occasionally. Not to make fun of him, just to share some of our post-marriage life antics. And to point out the obvious. Because in our opinion, discussing is way overrated.

Happy Thursday friends 🙂

Today we would discuss about charity and the power of giving to change people’s life.

Orlando Union Rescue Mission

We were off last weekend to deliver some food and clothing to a homeless shelter called Orlando Union Rescue Mission in Downtown Orlando. There was a Groupon deal for Old Navy recently. It feels nice to give something new instead of getting a new set of clothes for myself. The closet is well beyond pack at the moment, begging to purge. Clearly I don’t need a new blouse or skirt any time soon.

This post is a continuance of Part 1 – yeah, we did elope!

Many parents in our neck of woods tend to be over-protective of their children. Having a boy/girlfriend is a huge deal and often not encouraged. There could be many reasons for their over-protectiveness:

  • Difference in caste, religion, educational background etc
  • Doubtful of children’s decision making capabilities
  • Earning capacity – whether the partner chosen is well settled
  • The union is unacceptable by society
