Spring Sprouts Salad

in Salads, Sides

One of few moments in my life, where I’m left speechless.

As I watched the news yesterday, events at Boston Marathon unfolded into something eerie. Something unimaginable and so devastating. We had friends running the marathon and when the news on blasts was announced, our world was turned upside down.

After a couple of frantic mail and twitter exchanges, we sighed a huge relief when we found out our friends are fine from harms way. But that didn’t stop us from reacting differently with the whole situation.

We are sadden and just angry at the whole situation. Like many, we are still demanding answers.

A calamity at such magnitude is difficult to digest. And to truly understand how people who are directly impacted, copes in such situation — left us speechless.

A horrific tragedy that definitely left us to ponder about life and loved ones. Hug them in every opportunity you get. Tell them how much they are loved. Spend more time with each other. Spend life relishing and making memories together.

Don’t be spiteful or hateful — instead, embrace one another.

Love one another and help others to rise to the higher levels, simply by pouring out love. Love is infectious and the greatest healing energy. — Sai Baba

Well said, Kiran. You just can’t make sense of these terrible acts. All you can do is live better, be better, and love those around you more. Sharing food, sitting around the table, is one way to do that.

So sad. Friends of a friend of mine were injured, a runner’s husband and young son.

Your salad looks light and spring-y with the radishes, one of the first crops. And the mung beans are an easy way to add protein. I’m glad you are keeping on.

My heart aches for every innocent soul who is lost in the name of a completely irrational cause whether this is in Boston or in any other place of the world. I truly hope, although I find it highly impossible, that one day people will be able to understand the vanity of all this and be also able to live harmonically in their countries. Your salad is burst with flavors and a truly springy dish my friend!

Hello beautiful Kiran. I felt exactly the same in regards to the Boston Marathon incident. We have friends who live in Boston and rang them immediately after fearing the worst. Thankfully, like your friends, they’re safe and well. I still have such a sinking feeling in my heart though – so many injured, who lost limbs and have permanent scarring on their minds and bodies. I’m definitely praying for each and every one of them. This is my first visit to your blog and you’re beautifully talented, not to mention a beautiful person! I’ll definitely be trying your salad recipe. Take care.

Truly, the Boston bombing is a heinous heinous heinous tragedy! Who would do such a thing? WHY??? These are innocent people!!! I especially feel saddened by the Martin family who lost their 8-year-old boy, whose mother is in critical care for brain injury, and whose 6-year-old daughter’s leg got amputated! As a parent, this really struck the very heart of me. I cannot imagine the depths of their pain right now. So sad…

On a lighter note, your food sure looks good. And it cheered me up inspite of all the bad news from the US, including the most recent Texas explosion!
