Motivation.

Once lost, it’s a constant struggle to regain it back. After a long recent break, spending time with the family, I’m still not very motivated to get back into the kitchen and create magic.

Or even style and take photos of food. Gasp! Its a shocker for me too!!

And I’m here today to confide about the truth.

I enjoy doing it all. Food photography is still my passion, but it’s no longer “the drive” to strive for more. I’m lost. My motivation is stumbling down the staircase as quick as you can say, Bon Appetito!

Caffeine is a picker-upper, but I need something “stronger” than just caffeine. I hope the drive and creativity returns soon. Motivate me, please?

Have a lovely weekend, friends 🙂

How do you pick up the pieces left behind a while back, and carry on?

its not uncommon Kiran. I go through those alot and thats when I surround myself with good cookbook, cook without thinking about blog and enjoy the process. I go to tastespotting for inspiration as well. Hope the motivation is back soon.

I think I am feeling something similar about blogging. My food photography is nothing good so I still sense the challenging behind but… well, sometimes I don’t get the point of all this cooking and shooting thing. All in all, I like the idea that what I publish – small thing – is a craft, something I made, something unique. I think you’re here to share some great beauty with us 🙂 your unique pics and personal words. There is so much creativity in what you publish…

Gorgeous grapes! I think we all lose our motivation at times – best not to force it but to take a break. Inspiration will come again, but maybe from an unexpected source!

I’ve no doubt that you will not only be inspired, but you’ll be better than ever! Life is full of hiccups, but truly it’s so wonderful to take a break and eventually get back into things we love (with added zeal afterwards.)

Love the recipe regardless and your beautiful styling again. It’s truly beautiful!

I feel for you — I lose my motivation if I so much as go away for the weekend, I come home and can’t get my equilibrium back. I think the best advice is not to fight it, and realize that stuff is going on inside anyway, even though you might not be physically productive. I love these grapes, I’ve made a similar recipe and we ate them with cheese and crackers, but I love the idea of eating them on top of yogurt!

Aaw, sorry to hear about your loss of motivation Kiran, it’s always tough to get back in the groove again once you go on vacation or take an extended break. Do what’s best for you and if it means more time away or more rest, then just do what feels right 🙂 I am always inspired whenever I come here – your photos are truly amazing and you have such creative recipes. These grapes for example look incredible and the food styling is perfect to me my friend:)

Ah, I hear you. I slowed down on blogging a lot this past year. For me, I am stressed out over the many hats I wear. I wish I could be just be creative and not do the other mundane tasks before me. I photographed and co-authored a cookbook, and really enjoyed it! So perhaps you need another avenue to show off YOUR creativity? And it is perfectly okay, to take some time off and take time to care for yourself – and not the blog. I for one thoroughly enjoy your beautiful work, and get inspired when I see what you dream up!

Love the idea of adding balsamic!
And totally understand the lack of motivation… sometimes the whole blogging thing just feels like a chore, that’s when I forget about feed readers and do other things.

What a simple yet super delicious treat, Kiran! The sweetness of the grapes combined with the tangyness of the balsamic give the balance to this treat!

First, I’ve never roasted grapes and I think I’ve been missing out! Second, I lose my motivation and creativity from time to time – I think it’s just a natural thing that happens sometimes. But it always seems to pass eventually : )

There are periods in our lives that we feel lost and unmotivated! I have no idea what to tell you other than think about it and see what you really like. If you find no pleasure in blogging and photography then that means you have to move on to something else! Your grapes look fantastic and I hope you will find what you really want!

Hoping to goodness your motivation comes back soon! Dixya makes a good point, cooking (or baking in my case) without thinking of blogging helps ignite the “spark”.
But, Kiran – these “balsamic grapes” are evidence that your spark is alive and kicking! I would never have thought of them!

Yum! Sometimes a lack of motivation is good, it is your minds way of forcing you to regroup and reassess. Be patient with yourself and don’t think about it too much 🙂

Sorry to hear that you are having trouble getting motivated again. I believe you are a talented blogger with much to offer but it has to be fun for you as well. I love roasting grapes and love to serve them as part of a cheese course. I’ll have to try your suggestions.

My response didn’t seem to get uploaded (I blame my horrible home internet connectivity) but I did want to comment here – I think all of us have moments where we lack the motivation to blog – and let’s be realistic here, whilst we all probably started blogging as fun, it does take serious commitment. Hang in there – you’re such a motivation for me ! Both in your cooking, and of course your incredible food styling and photography.
ps I use Instagram to quickly capture a lot of my food moments now but I really do still love sitting down and reliving my experiences with food and committing them to “paper” 🙂
