Avocado & Grapefruit Salad

Salads. So light and refreshing.

Growing up, we were accustomed with salads that were pretty common in the boring department: cucumber, tomato and red onion with a dash of salt and pepper. The thought of throwing in a bunch of fruits, just didn’t occur.

And then, we moved to the States where salads are gobbled as main course. Cue “mind boggled”.

While there’s nothing wrong with only cucumber, tomato and onion salad — its pretty exciting to experiment with unknown combination of ingredients for a refreshing plate of colorful salad.

Though admittedly, I wouldn’t dare to convince my dad with this salad.

The Husband on the other hand admits there’s something magical about grapefruit and avocado salad. In that case, I better get off the computer to experiment more beyond cucumber, tomato and onions!

I agree, I had hard time ordering salad as entree when I first moved to the States. Love the refreshing dressing. AND that photo in white background is stunning!

In my family the word salad was only associated to lettuce and tomatoes. I also like that I can now experiment with many fresh ingredients. Never tried avocado + grapefruit, sounds so refreshing. A combination to try.

growing up we ate a lot of raitas or the maharashtrian cucumber koshimbir with cucumber, green chillies and peanut powder. Salads are my new found love since I moved to the US too.
Love the simplicity of this salad.

Kiran – I am intrigued – I haven’t ever had grapefruit and avocados before! Growing up salads were a side for me too – but veggie curries were PLENTIFUL!

This salad looks so pretty and refreshing! I have a grapefruit every morning and can never get enough avocado so I’m loving this idea to combine the two :) The shallot dressing sounds fantastic!

Love the colour combination and flavour characteristic on this one, I never had imagined combining this together but now it makes sense. I would definitely make this someday
