new year

Went for a glorious brunch on New Year’s eve. On the menu:

Red velvet pancake pups, delicious waffles, eggs, fruits and endless coffee refills.

Being outdoorsy — it was the final sunlight in 2011, yo.

After a wonderful night out to celebrate new year, we all woke up very bright and not-so early to enjoy our vacation. Let the fun begin 🙂 A mini-shuttle ride was so refreshing. We sung, danced and clicked photos all day long. I miss everyone.

I’ve been so busy lately that I forgot to mention the main reason for my trip back home recently.  My sister (J) was pregnant then 😀 Yes, she was expecting and now a mother of sweet and adorable baby boy!

Preggie J & I 😉

As siblings, we are very close with each other. My sister makes an effort to visit my parents yearly.  I on the other hand, expect them to visit Orlando as well. Unfortunately, I am located the furthest amongst my siblings. Remorseful 🙁

Anyways, upon arriving few days in advance, I made some arrangements to gather close relatives for our New Year celebration and reunion at A’Famosa Malacca Resort. My sister, her big belly and dear husband (T) finally arrives in Malaysia!

A’Famosa Malacca Resort is about 2 hours away from home. We packed our luggage and begun the journey of enjoyment and relaxation. My sister booked two side-by-side bungalow’s for us and the family. We arrived and were unsatisfied with the condition of one of the bungalows. Apart from leaky air-conditioner at the living room, the backyard swimming pool was not in a pleasant condition. We were unable to move to another bungalow as there weren’t any vacancy. My sister and her belly were comfortable, so we did not fuss about it too long.

J and T bought so many decadent pastries and chocolates from Amsterdam. It amazes me how they went through Customs without any problem 😀 One whole suitcase was literally packed with cakes, cookies, chocolates, jams and pastries. Of course, we took no time and stuffed ourselves with sugary delights. Then darkness befallen on us 😀 It sounds very much like a story book right? We started getting ready to celebrate 2010!!! Yuhuuu! Let’s party! Aboard the bus ride, we rode to the fireworks venue. It was so crowded. But wasn’t enough to deter us from having fun. Hope your 2010 is rocking as per your resolution 🙂

Part 3 coming up, stay tuned!

… with personal fond memories. I graduated with a MBA degree, healthy and happy! 2009 brought many adventures with traveling and meeting new people with different backgrounds and culture. It was a fun year and hoping for similar adventures in 2010. Times flies. Today would also mark our 2nd blog anniversary in the blogging world. Thank you to all of our readers, friends and families for making Chatterbox, what it is and where it is now 🙂

Apologies for making this post a brief one as traveling can be a challenging episode to blog. With poor Internet connectivity as such. Before I bid adieu to 2009, some of my personal 2009 highlights were my new year resolutions and the revisit, 2009 travelogues, the birth our self-hosting url; kirantarun.com, our photoblog, testing our entrepreneurial skills by establishing an eshop and of course, to be awarded with the Best Rockin Blog in Personal and Photography category by Orlando Sentinel.

I am not setting any new year resolutions for 2010, but would definitely revisit my 2009 goals once again. Over and out!

Have a blessed, happy and wonderful New Year every one 🙂

The first half of 2009 has surpassed without any warning. Time flies huh? I guess it’s time to revisit the ol’ new year resolutions I’d made. Why did I had to? Why? Anyways..

1) Develop a new skill or revisit an old one. I’ve started a small cross-stitching project. Nothing huge, just to rekindle the memories of old school handicraft classes that I took back then. I would take on knitting projects in future. For that, I need to Google.

2) Get fit or develop a healthy diet. I am back on the treadmill and so is Tarun. Whilst grocery shopping, we’ve also developed a habit of reading nutrition labels. It is important to know what and how much goes into food preparation rather than assuming. Prevention is always better than cure my friends.

3) Get more organized – virtually. My laptop is such a let-down these days. But it has stayed on with me, through thick and thin. I have since backed up, deleted and did some housekeeping. But the performance is not at par. Despite all this, we still went ahead with our domain name registration and self-hosting. Adventurous, I must say.

4) Spend more time with friends. I’ve been to a couple of dinners and catching-up sessions with friends. I foresee more gathering’s in future. Cheers to that!

5) Catch up on reading. I was introduced to Sophie Kinsella’s Shopholic series and I am hooked! I am currently reading Undomestic Goddess. And yes, Sophie wrote it.

6) Begin a home improvement project. Does interior decorating counts? I have no background or experience but I must say the transformation is not all that bad. Before and after photos are coming up later.

7) Get more involved in community and charity. We are involved in a charity for the Disabled American Veteran’s. And back in India, we are consistently donating food supplies to the less fortune’s.

8) Blog often. It’s an ongoing process. Now that we have our website to manage, people might view it more of an obligation to blog. But for me, blogging should be more about being responsible, expressive and less about obligation. Freedom of speech in writing, who am I to object it?

9) Begin a personal project. I am into photography these days. Nikon D60 is my new toy.

10) Meet and greet neighbors often. It’s an ongoing process. There are a couple of neighbors just moved into their new home. Giving them time to settle into their new environment. Welcome to the neighborhood :)

So, tell me. Any progress with your new year resolution?

On a separate topic, we are expecting some major changes in our lives, and I have been preparing and researching so much about it. There have been several and on-going soul-searching sessions between me and Tarun before decision making. I am sure some of your curiosity thermometer is peaking at the highest of reading. I can’t reveal something that is undecided at the moment. Not even a gist. Sigh.
