After months of silence, what do you write when you have nothing to say? Days and activities have been pretty mundane. But I’ll have to get myself out of this “rut”. This writer’s block we are all too familiar with. This mentality of not having time doing what you love doing.

Got to start somewhere, right?
So let me tell you about my day. I am at work, pacing between my laptop, the coffee machine, conference calls and meetings for next week’s agenda.

At the back of my mind, I am planning dinner. Tarun will be back tonight from his work trip to Dallas. I told him about the broken AC. We just replaced the washer and dryer, and the AC finally gave up on us too. Our weekend is going to be pretty hectic fixing everything that’s not working.

Fun.

On a much realistic fun note, the in laws are here. And their 50th marriage anniversary is looming away. Lots to plan and do, but I don’t know where the starting point will be.

So tell me, what happened today?

.. is like a new chapter in your life. Learning to take baby steps all over again. Well, not really baby steps. But sometimes I truly wish it was easier. When we moved to the States a few years ago, Hubby was assigned as a Software Professional and I instantly immersed myself in completing my online MBA. I begin blogging as a way to keep in touch with my loved ones back in Malaysia and India. But here’s the thing. We are yet to share our experiences as expats over here in the States. The living abroad guide if you may.

After a wonderful night out to celebrate new year, we all woke up very bright and not-so early to enjoy our vacation. Let the fun begin 🙂 A mini-shuttle ride was so refreshing. We sung, danced and clicked photos all day long. I miss everyone.

It’s been a long time since I last shared my favorite poems/quotes. I love Maya Angelou’s words of wisdom. Her outlook on life and being, is amazingly captured in her poems or quotes. How do you see the outlook of life around you?

Touched by An Angel by Maya Angelou

We, unaccustomed to courage
exiles from delight
live coiled in shells of loneliness
until love leaves its high holy temple
and comes into our sight
to liberate us into life.
Love arrives
and in its train come ecstasies
old memories of pleasure
ancient histories of pain.
Yet if we are bold,
love strikes away the chains of fear
from our souls.
We are weaned from our timidity
In the flush of love’s light
we dare be brave
And suddenly we see
that love costs all we are
and will ever be.
Yet it is only love
which sets us free.

India – a country with lush history, boundless spirits, cultural richness, abundance of humility and a haven of food. The list is long, but allow me to summarize it – there is nothing like our INDIA :)

August 15th, it reminds us of our struggles and the responsibilities as a citizen. Though we are independent from an occupier, the true independence lies when the weakest amongst us would be able to live his or her dreams, no matter how big or small it may be, or how varied we all are in terms of color, religion and caste.

Independence is not merely a destination, but a journey which should be cherished by every Indian, in every breath and moment of our lives. Though we have come a long way, we need to strive for greater heights ahead.

Jai Hind!
