Spring

…is almost here. I can feel it in the air 🙂 We are all excited, but at the same time cannot help thinking how its March already! Time is ticking fast.

We got a head-start in getting some soil ready for herbs and tomatoes. Hopefully with my not too stellar green thumb, some would actually survive.

Imagine the possibilities of cutting cost on purchasing herbs. Every little savings counts.

On the other hand, I hate to admit there’s a slight chance that it wouldn’t make it through summer. I’ve knocked over it a few times now. Apparently, I need to learn how to watch my steps while walking. And by the look of it, I don’t think the Husband appreciates the fact that it looks like I am out to destroy his babies.

I’ve warned you about my green thumb being not so green, didn’t I?

Do you love gardening as well? Or are you like me, with a not-too green thumb?

I am passionate about gardening..so much so that even living in a 5th floor apartment has not deterred me from getting myself an array of pots and hanging plants..and this winters has been good, with lots of seasonal flowers in spring….

must plant my tomato seeds soon!!

My thumb is not that green… but I like green thumbs. Any hobby is a good hobby. Except murdering people and hiding dead bodies, that’s a lame hobby, I mean, eventually the body is going to rot and become manure, why not just buy manure and grow plants? Right? Right?

I too have the killer instinct I’m afraid. I do manage to keep a small herb bed a live because they’re pretty self-sufficient once you get them started! Thank goodness!

Horrible at it.. I’ve been attempting to plant Holy basil (tulasi), not for consumption but for the religious point of view but have failed miserably! Every time my dad plants it as he has one of the greenest thumb ever, and i diligently bring it back, transfer it to the pot, water it every day and yet it dies! I’ve moved positions of the plant to avoid excessive sun/rain, and yet it dies one me! I even got Kesava to water them since I have the tendency of killing it! But i think by just watering and not touching it alone kills the plant. Perhaps i should even stop glancing towards it! Sigh…

Dear Kiran,

Apart from the savings, I think it feels great to cook with fresh herbs that you have nurtured yourself. It will pull through 🙂

I think after years of killer instinct I finally got a green thumb. I planted some tulip bulbs in fall and I can see them growing. I have always killed Tulsi and Mint doesnt last even a week. I hope to try again.

We usually garden out of necessity (i.e. we have the space, and it produces tons of food for us to eat). But I don’t know if I’m really a green thumb, or just lucky sometimes!! I’d like to start an indoor herb garden in my kitchen that I could enjoy all year round.
