India… here we come!

Been occupied for many days now. I have a few more thesis to complete before the semester break. That’s a relief. We are also planning a trip to India early ’09. I can hardly contain myself. It’s my first trip ever! I am very excited! But I would need some suggestions:

Venue: New Delhi & surroundings

1. Places that I must visit & why?

2. Shopping venue for (home decor, personals etc)everything a girl loves?

3. Shopping must-haves (suggestions)?

4. What food must I try and suggestions on venue?

5. Do’s and Dont’s.

6. Tips, suggestions or advice?

Drop me a comment. I would love to know more about India and get an early head start on planning for the trip.

Places:

Palika Bazaar, CP, LaL Bagh, Fatehpur Sikri, Doll Musuem, Rail Museum,

Shopping Venues:

Khan Market: Very good Indian and western wear from the designer and non standard line)

Sarojini Nagar: Cheap, export rejects ( with close to no defects, so so cheap) Amazing food ( you need to be sure about your stomach though)- Loads of bargaining

Janpath: Another not to miss place for amazing personals and antique jewelery- Loads of bargaining

Must-haves:

Kurtas, Indian batic print tops, stolls and Bandhini dupattas, Indian jewelery (janpath & sarojini nagar)3

Do's:

Haggle with autorick guys, they wil just refuseto go by the meter. But always check with some people around the place how much it would cost to a place before talking to the auto guys ( in case you do not know the price)

Will drop in the rest if I think of something more:)

>>> Hi Niti – thanks a lot for the suggestions. Would definitely visit Taj Mahal, it's on my list for sure.. 🙂 We are planning a trip some time end of Feb. Rest we would discuss once I have completed my final MBA paper. Thanks for visiting my blog!

>>> Hi Aathira – thank you for dropping by on my blog and for the suggestions..Wow, they are many and I truly appreciate your intricate descriptions on each bullet points. Would take note and visit the places you've mentioned and update you on it. I love ethnic jewelery, bandhani dupattas and modern kurtis. My, you have picked out items on most of my 'to-do' list of shopping. Thanks once again and do return for more snippets here on my blog.
